Description
Product Description The Bodum Pavina double wall cooler glass is 12 ounces in size and can be used for cold or warm beverages. Its unique design is appealing to the eye when filled with your favorite beverage. With its double layer of borosilicate glass it appears as though the liquid is 'floating' within the glass. They will not sweat when filled with a cold beverage, so you will not have to use a coaster. The double wall creates a thermal effect, helping to keep your cold drinks cold and your hot drinks hot for longer periods of time. These mouth blown glasses are an exciting product for any home, restaurant and cafe and they are a definite conversation piece. Bodum’s insulated glassware is made from durable Borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is a strong heat-resistant glass traditionally used to make scientific lab glass. Stronger than traditional “soda-lime” glass, borosilicate can be used for everything from drinkware to cookware. Borosilicate glass substitutes boron oxide in place of the soda and lime used in everyday glassware. The boron oxide acts as the glue holding the silicate together. Due to small size of boron particles, the glass is held together tighter, resulting in a stronger, lighter glass. Borosilicate glass doesn’t need to be as thick as traditional glass to be just as strong due to the bonding capability boron oxide. Borosilicate is simply a different type of glass that is resistant to temperature swings and scratching. Because the particles are held together so tightly, borosilicate glass is resistant to temperature swings, In addition to being dishwasher safe borosilicate will not become cloudy over time; you can rest assured that after 1,000 cycles, the glass will be as clear as the day you bought it. Amazon.com With futuristic looks and high-tech construction, Bodum's Pavina drinkware makes an exciting departure from traditional glassmaking. The walls of each vessel are crafted from two layers of clear glass, creating an optical illusion that the liquid is suspended inside. Softening the look, Pavina's shapes feature smooth, rounded silhouettes. The inner wall also curves slightly away from the outer wall for a touch of understated elegance. This set of two double wall cooler/beer glasses serves generous helpings of cool ale or warm grog. Crafted of borosilicate glass, which is also used to make scientific lab equipment, the pair is exceptionally strong, lightweight, and thermal. The two-layer construction also resists heat and prevents condensation, so no matter what temperature the beverage is, the glasses remain comfortable to hold and safe for any tabletop. Winner of the prestigious European IF Design Award, this 12-ounce, scratch-resistant set also goes into the dishwasher and microwave. Mix and match Pavina with the Assam and Canteen lines to stock the bar or dining table with a variety of fun shapes. --Kara KarllEditor's Note: Because the glasses are mouth blown, each one may have slight variations in height, thickness, and weight. Bodum recommends using care when placing ice into the glass to avoid fracturing the inner layer. Do not use metal spoons or place the glass into a crowded dishwasher.

I first saw these glasses at a relatives home. I fell in love with them immediately and used them the entire week I was there. She said she purchased hers at Bed Bath and Beyond. A set of 4 for about $25. My local stored doesn't have them, and I've not seen a set that price. I went to the website and then decided to google the name of the glasses once I found out. Then I found them on Amazon and for a slightly cheaper price. I bought two of the 12oz and 9oz.They feel very fragile when first taking them out of the box and then you wonder when you read the warning about not using metal spoons in them and being careful when using ice. But really, I've had them for about two or three weeks now and use them several times a day. It's fine with normal use and probably not fine if you like to slam your ice in or something.I've read in the reviews that there was a hole in the bottom of the glass and water will get caught inside when you wash them. I haven't found that to be the case. I see the sealed up hole where the glass was probably blown out, but I've had no problem with water going inside.I haven't tried the dishwasher yet because I use them so often, I just hand wash and put them back in the cabinet. The glass does get cool to the touch when cold liquid is in there and slightly warm when hot is there, but it does not sweat at all. And I found pouring my hot tea in there doesn't hurt the glass either, if you're worried about the cold from ice or the heat from the drink cracking the glass.I'd suggest trying a set out and seeing how you like them. I used the supersaver shipping so I only paid for the glasses. You have to wait a while before it actually ships, but the process is very quick once it actually ships. Hope this helps:)
