Louisiana heat here. This cooler performs. Fishing is king here. This cooler holds the ice great. My 2nd one. First one used hard still going strong.I've had this cooler for over a year now, and it still does its job well.Plain and simple, it keeps things insulated. It keeps cold things cold (ice) and hot things hot (brisket).The folks having issues with this cooler are likely doing something wrong bc it's built like a tank and is very well insulated.Many rotomolded coolers are juts rebadged generics but K2 designs their own stuff and I appreciate the small details and the quality.The latches attached upward instead of downward which feels backwards at first but it works fine.I'd buy another if this one ever dies, but it likely won't.I purchased this nice cooler based on online reviews; when it arrived I wasn't disappointed. The cooler is made of a heavy grade of plastic with thick sides. I live in Florida so I've been taking the boat out in the winter to view Manatees in the local springs; I loaded up the cooler on Thursday with a five gallon bucket of ice from the Marina. It is now Saturday and there is plenty of ice left. Granted this is the winter and the temperature hasn't risen over 75 degrees the past few days, but it looks like ice retention will not be a problem. I purchased a black divider specifically made for this cooler; it allows the interior to have two equally sized compartments. I like the rubber latches, they are fitted in a way that doesn't use any fasteners and look to be easily replaces. I've had lesser coolers where the hinges and latches failed, hopefully this will not be the case with the design of the K2 Summit 50. Lastly the cooler has four feet that have a great grip on the boat's deck; no sliding!We did a lot of research before buying. One thing we noted is the weight of this style cooler varies. One similar style was 12lbs heavier than K2. This is wide but the swing arms help bring your arms in. Nice seal, non metal to rust, we bought the tray and the wire lock to anchor to the back of the truck. True color to pic. We are very happy with the purchase. Cooler does not fall over when you open it empty. Not used by us yet so read about performance from another post.This is a well built cooler that should last a long time however the ice retention is really no better that the Coleman Xtreme cooler (which I own and this replaced). My Pelican 65 cooler outperforms this cooler by far, but I needed a cooler with the dimensions the K50 had as it fit in my boat well. I normally pack my cooler for 2-3 days with drinks. This cooler in the AZ desert heat can get 2 maybe 3 days with a towel over it to absorb some of the sun, this includes prechilling the cooler and drinks, where my Pelican can make 5 days no problem.I love the cooler, holds ice well in SC summer on the lake. Hind sight I would have gotten white, surface temp on darker coolers is 50 plus degree hotter, I learned..still a study ice holding beastI love this cooler, ice stays cold, before I go out I keep this cooler in my deep freeze, yeti is buying a brand, k2 is buying quality at a great price, for my cooler needs this one exceeds them, had an issue with Amazon shipping, k2 company pulled through, I will definitely be buying at least one more cooler in the near future. I like the green color, great size for the boat. Ps. (Make one cooler that says "unauthorized opening can result in death") I'd buy it!Plug leaks a little, easy fix with added o ring. if you don't pre cool it 30lbs of ice on cold drinks will only last 2.5 days. Pre cooled and 3 bags of ice (30lbs) you can get 5 days with limited opening.Gran producto!! Mantiene congelada la comida por días!!
